Cannot dial out on the A300

Last Updated: Jun 15, 2017 11:16AM CDT
If the keypad on your A300 is not operating:

1. The keypad lock feature may be on. There will be a skeleton key icon on the top of the screen if the keypad lock is set and the phone will give a long beep when a key is pushed.  If this happens, press and hold the * key until the skeleton key icon on the screen goes away.

2. If you hear clicking and not beeping when you push the buttons, the phone is set to Pulse dial instead of Tone.  This will make it impossible to access touch tone menus.  Set dialing mode to Tone in the BS Settings feature in the menu. You can do this by tapping the left soft key under Menu once. (the soft key is the small round key directly under the Caller ID screen) Tap the bottom silver edge of the navigation key until BS Settings is highlighted. Tap the left soft key under Select. Tap the bottom silver edge of the navigation key until Dial Mode is highlighted.  Tap the left soft key under Select. Tap the bottom silver edge of the navigation key until Tone is highlighted. Tap the left soft key under Save.  Your phone is now set to touch tone dial.

3. If no buttons work, not even the Talk or End keys or soft keys, the keypad may have a button stuck down, or the keys just don't work and the phone should come in for service.
